85/366 - Family Connections

I found this home or homes the other day and was impressed with the family connection here so that they do not have to go outside to the yard to walk over to the other house.

It is a walkway they built to connect the two residences with a bridge. I thought it was kind of cool!!!

This photo was taken in Skagit County on one of our Sunday outings. Near Bow, WA.

  1. How fun. Vana, did you get the impression they were houses on the same lot? Sort of like a main house and a 'mother-in-law' suite type of thing?

I have heard that adding on to a house for extended family is common in Japan. People will often do it for a daughter or son so they can help raise the grandchildren.

  2. That's cool. Although perhaps also a little creepy - I'm not sure I'd want relatives randomly appearing at my bedroom window! Lol!

  4. It is definitely on the same large plot of land. I was thinking about how creepy it would be to have family just pop in anytime they feel like it. I mean it could be a bit embarrassing at times. ;)
