34/366 Old Wartburg

In my childhood, the majority of cars here were of East European origin, for commercial policy reasons.

A couple of years ago, we were at a vintage car show, and there I found this Wartburg, 1964 model, exactly the same colour as the one my dad had when I was a little girl. According to him, it was a very good car.

  1. Cool looking car, rowan.

I love car shows. I know very little about cars, but I just love to look at them.

  3. Wow, I never knew the GDR exported cars! And even less that Finland imported from the east - why would that have been official policy, Rowan? Did Finland use to be socialist or allied with the countries in the eastern block?
Pretty car, though, and quite a notch up from the Trabbi, it seems. Don't think I've ever seen one, and I only first saw a Trabbi after '89, too. :D
