110/366 Butterfly

Last week, we met up with my sweetie's family in Stratford-upon-Avon, where we visited a Butterfly Farm - it was the first time I'd been to one, and it was awesome! :D I'd been a bit worried that fluttery critters all around me would make me a bit nervous, but it was fine, and the shapes and colours were just amazing.
One of my favourites was this one with the transparent wings.

  1. That is awesome, Hobby!

I've never seen a butterfly with trasparent wings. That is just too cool and really pretty.

    1. The caterpillar room had an info sign saying that they only live in South America. I was thinking it probably belonged in Elfland. :D

  2. Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle has a butterfly house and it is so cool. But I have never seen a transparent butterfly like that before, VERY PRETTY!!!!

    1. I thought if any little fluttering creature might be taken for an elf, this might be one. ;) :)

    1. Wow, really cool! I'd only seen one in San Francisco when I was some years ago, but they had just closed for winter. :D

  5. Wow. I know a few people have already said it but what an extraordinary thing. I've never seen one with clear wings like that. Is a butterfly farm there to breed butterfly to be released into the wild or to collectors, or are they for eating?? We don't have butterfly farms here in oz.

    1. Cel, it's purely for show, for people to come and see them :) - this one breeds only tropical butterflies, so it was like a giant hothouse with tropical climate. It would be great if there were those that also breed them to release them into the wild - there are a lot of native varieties that could do with a bit of propagating.
