About a year ago my sister spent a few weeks in Ethiopia as part of her school program. She brought back this for me, a hand carving of the three wise monkeys (see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil). I currently have it displayed in my living room, and I believe it's the only piece of actual 'art' or 'culture' in my entire apartment. To wit: it's directly above my collection of Xbox games.

Hey krawler, I have some in marble, almost the exact same thing and it was also a gift, but from Asia.

ReplyDeleteVery cool!! I like the fact that we all seem to have things from around the world and yet the same or of similar ideas. I love the monkeys hon. My sister went to Okinawa and I got a teak wood carved hand with the two fingers of peace up. It disappeared years ago, maybe I got beyond keeping something like that from the early 70s. I don't know but sometimes I wish I still had it.
lOL... above your xbox games.
ReplyDeleteMy oldest son would be more interested in the games. ;)
But those are really neat looking carvings.
